Moving to a new home.

Leaving the house you know, packing everything in boxes, a whole new place. Knowing your things come with you helps most.

Moving Day

Soon we are moving to a new home.

We will pack our things into boxes. That can look strange.

All of my things come with me, my bed, my toys, my favorite blanket.

The new home is a different place. It can feel unfamiliar at first.

I will have my own room and my own space there.

Little by little, the new home becomes home.

What to expect

Moving disrupts the one place that's supposed to be safe. The biggest reassurance is that their things, their bed, their toys, come with them, and that the new place becomes home with time. Set up their room first.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Unpack and set up your child's room first, before anything else, so they have one finished, familiar corner from night one. Keep a few favorite things out of the boxes entirely.
