A new baby in the family.

A new baby changes everything: the noise, the attention, the routine. Knowing what stays the same matters as much as what's new.

A New Baby

Soon there will be a new baby in our family.

Babies are very little. They cry and need a lot of help.

The baby will get a lot of attention because babies need it.

I am still important. I am still loved just as much.

Some things will stay the same, like my bedtime and my grown-up's hugs.

I can be a big helper when I want to. And I can have my own space too.

What to expect

A new baby is a huge change, and the hardest part is often the fear of being replaced. Naming that they are still loved and important, and that some things stay exactly the same, matters more than the baby facts.

One tip from a dad who's been there

Protect one or two routines that stay completely the same (the same bedtime story, the same morning). That sameness is what tells your child they still have their place.
