Meeting someone new.
A new face, not knowing what they'll do or say, the pressure to say hi back. A few words to practice make it easier.

Meeting Someone New
Sometimes I meet someone new.
Meeting a new person can feel a little nervous. That is okay.
I can look at them or give a wave.
I can say hi if I want to. I do not have to say a lot.
I can stay near my grown-up.
Meeting new people gets easier the more I do it.

What to expect
Meeting new people is unpredictable, which is the hard part. Knowing a simple thing to do (a wave is enough) and that they don't have to talk a lot takes the pressure off. A small script helps.
One tip from a dad who's been there
Let a wave or a quiet 'hi' count as success. Don't push for eye contact or a long greeting. The win is that the new person isn't scary, not a perfect hello.
